Conversion Story of the Week Katowice Branch, Friday, September 11th: Ania and the two oldest of her three children, and Elder Hughes and Elder Rushton
Ania Cesarczyk’s story:
(written by Ania herself, translated from Polish) “September 11 is a significant day for Americans, but starting now, it is also an important day for me. This is the day I was baptized. The road to my true baptism was long and very difficult. As an infant I was baptized in the Catholic Church by my biological parents. Then as a 4-year old I was again baptized in the same church by my adopted parents. In this church, I learned some gospel principles and doctrine. However, it differed from the truth as I now know it. As I grew up I came across other churches and denominations. Over and over again I asked myself questions such as, Who is God? Does he really exist? What role does he play in my life, and who is the Holy Ghost? Is there life after death? If so, what will happen with our spirits? Is the church I belong to true? And where are we from anyway? I lived in such great spiritual unawareness that even thinking of these great questions struck my mind with fear. More than anything, I was afraid of death. Although my belief in God never left my heart, I never knew how I could get to him, or return to Him someday. After 33 years of searching, I found the path I had to follow. Thanks to Elders Antczak, Shettell, McRae, Hedges, Rushton and Hughes, I learned the Gospel. They taught me how to pray to our Heavenly Father. They answered my questions, and through baptism, set me on the straight and narrow path to the home of my Heavenly Father. Baptism was a special moment for me because I had finally found what I had been searching for all these years. It not only washed me from sin, but it opened the gates of Heaven for me – gates I will try to keep open with all my strength. On this day, my most faithful friends were not missed. My friends who supported me through my difficult moments, as well as the most joyful, surrounded me. Today I am one of them – they are my brothers and sisters. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. The Church is restored through a Prophet, Joseph Smith. Today it is led by a living prophet – Thomas S. Monson. The Church of Jesus Christ is the the Lord's Church on earth. The Church of our Father in Heaven, who loves us, and waits. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
